Now as a follow up to sharing the song itself, here is a video of All Sons and Daughters explaining the story behind the song. Enjoy!

Behind the Song: How He Loves (John Mark McMillan)
“How He Loves” is a very powerful song, that has gained a lot of popularity in the last year. It’s a very simple and honest song, that sounds like a man simply talking to God. It has moments where it is unrefined, it’s not intended to be a perfect prayer, rather a real conversation. It’s truthful and heartfelt. This song has been covered a few times, and some of the lyrics changed with each iteration, [...]

Behind the Song – Silent Night

Then, as Destiny would have it, two years later on Christmas Eve, the organ in Pastor Mohr’s church broke down just before the Christmas Mass. Determined that the Mass should not be without music, Mohr gave the poem he had written two [...]

Behind the Song – The Afters – Light Up The Sky
If you haven’t heard of The Afters, you are missing out! They have an album called Never Going Back to OK that is probably one of the most played cd’s I have ever purchased. Their new project is called Light Up The Sky, and the title track for the album is all about the tangible ways that God shows us He is here for us, no matter what. Listen to what Josh Haven has to [...]

Behind the Song – Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone) – Chris Tomlin
Amazing Grace is one of the most well known Christian Hymns in the world. The song was written by English Poet John Newton, and published in 1779. Newton wrote the song out of his own experiences. He was raised without any particular religious upbringing, and consistently found himself in trouble. He eventually was Pressed (drafted) into joining the Royal Navy, where he became a sailor, and eventually found himself participating in the slave trade. One [...]

Behind the Song – Alive Again (Matt Maher)
Continuing with our discussion of Matt Maher, we thought we’d cover the Title Track of his newest album as our first Behind the Song Feature. Brian read an exerpt from this writing a few Sundays ago when we sang this song together at Cornerstone for the first time. The genesis of this song came from Saint Augustine of Hippo’s writing entitled “Jesus is the Only Way to God.” After searching for God through Eastern Cults [...]
